KRYSTAL TO OPEN FIRST RESTAURANT IN THE NORTH SHORE ON DECEMBER 20

A Free Year’s Supply of Krystal Hamburgers to Be Given Away to First “Sackful” of Customers in Line at Krystal Opening in Slidell on
Thursday, December 20, at 10:00 a.m.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., – Krystal, the fast food icon famous for its fresh, hot, small, square hamburgers craved by a cult-like following all across the South, will open its first restaurant in the North Shore on Thursday, December 20. To celebrate, Krystal will be giving away a year supply of free Famous Krystal hamburgers to the first “Sackful” of adults in line when the new restaurant, located at 61104 Airport Rd. opens at 10 a.m.

In Krystal jargon, a Sackful refers to an order of 12 Famous Krystal hamburgers, and it will be the first 12 adults, ages 18 and older, who will receive the year’s supply of the Famous Krystals, or specifically, a Sackful of Krystals, every week for an entire year.

And the food prizes will not end there. Krystal celebrated its 75th anniversary this year, making it the South’s oldest fast food chain, and in honor of both its 75th anniversary and the Slidell opening, Krystal will give the first 75 individuals in line by 10 a.m. a coupon for a free Mix and Match combo, which allows Krystal Lovers to customize their meal by ordering any combination of four Krystal Hamburgers, Krystal Chiks (small chicken sandwiches), Krystal Pups (small hot dogs offered with chili and cheese), or Krystal Corn Pups (small corn dogs). The first 75 in line will also receive a free Krystal T-shirt. Customers wishing to receive a food prize at the opening may line-up 24 hours in advance at the new restaurant.

“The big taste of Krystal has finally arrived in the North Shore, and we’re celebrating by giving away great food prizes to the first 75 people in line,” said Fred Exum, chief executive officer, The Krystal Company. “We’ve been having tremendous openings all across the South, where people camped out overnight just so they can be the first in line when the doors open, and based on the e-mails we’re receiving, we expect to see the same kind of enthusiasm for our opening in Slidell.”

The franchise group, The Pantry, will operate the new Krystal in Slidell.

“We’re thrilled to finally bring the big taste of Krystal to the North Shore,” said Toni Sherfield of The Pantry. “Slidell residents are very familiar with the Krystal brand and know it’s the one place where they can order great food with the big taste you can’t get anywhere else, all at an excellent value. We are delighted to finally give local Krystal lovers a Krystal all of their own. Now they will no longer have to travel far to satisfy their cravings for Krystal.”

The new Krystal restaurant will feature a refreshing, efficient design that pays homage to the traditional Krystal look while showcasing the company’s modern, new image. The interior spaces are bright and shiny, harking back to Krystal’s heritage with white tile, chrome, shiny stainless steel, and very clean, contemporary appearances.

Founded in 1932, Krystal restaurants have become more than sparkling-clean eateries where friendly employees serve up fresh, delicious food. Krystal has become a cultural icon and an experience that virtually every man, woman and child in the South has shared. The Krystal brand-and the great food, service, value and setting that it represents-has taken a prominent place in the South’s cultural landscape.

While the company’s identity has always centered on the Famous Krystal hamburger, Krystal’s menu offers a variety of unique menu items that are distinctive in size and shape, served fresh, hot off the grill and perfect anytime of the day. Krystal Sunrisers (small breakfast sandwiches), Krystal Chiks and Krystal Pups are a just a few of the popular menu items that deliver on this promise. Krystal continues to expand its menu variety with breakthrough offerings, including the B.A. Burger, a full size hamburger made from 100% USDA Choice Black Angus Chuck, and Krystal’s Breakfast Scramblers line that takes traditional plate breakfasts and stacks them smartly in bowls to be conveniently enjoyed on the go, either scrambled up or layer by layer.

The Krystal Company is the oldest quick service restaurant chain in the South and the second oldest in the United States. The Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company currently has nearly 400 restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
